There will be a number of Elvis and the artists/bands he inspired radio specials on 107.1 FM Mumbai in coming months...
Also we're paying tribute to Michael Jackson - The King of Pop throughout the month on the radio. His
new movie This Is It will be released in India on Oct 28 and will be in theatres for only
two weeks - so be sure to go and see it. His passing was a shock to many Elvis fans here in India - as he was well loved and
appreciated. I recently finished reading this fascinating 800 page definitive book on Jackson's life (by Author J. Randy
Taraborrelli) and it's essential reading all fans of music. Here's the link below.
A new site to check out is the Elvis Lighted Candle free forum. Sue Adams and her friends are currently
working on this forum in relation to Elvis' love of gospel music, where they believe his true heart and soul to be! It's
similar to a spiritual online 'sanctuary' where people might like to just go and be, to rest and know peace in amongst the
general chaos of the world.
Sony recently released From Elvis In Memphis : 40th Anniversary Legacy Edition - 2 CD Set.
The set contains 36 tracks across 2 CDs, including 10 original mono single masters. (All of Elvis' US singles were released
in mono only up to 1971. Merry Christmas Baby may have been Elvis' first stereo single. Remember radio was AM - mono - (not
FM - stereo!) so singles were made for radio play in mono.) Hits on the CD include Stuck On You, It's Now Or
Never, Are You Lonesome Tonight and Surrender.
I've got some copies of the new CD to give out to some lucky fans...all you have to do is send
me an email and tell me in three-four lines how Elvis has changed your life! I know one fan who tried to impress a
girl he liked giving her a CD of Elvis love songs (which he borrowed from me!) - and now they're happily married!
Our kind friends at Sony BMG India (the official music company) are big Elvis fans & they've informed me that
there are some new Elvis releases out this year. Keep checking the new release page for more details. If Elvis Fans are
interested in picking up Elvis Cd's & Dvds at a discount, the record company is more than willing to help out! Those interested...mail
